DIFFUN, Quirino (PIA) - - As part of the celebration of Environment Month, the local government here spearheaded a tree planting activity at the Kawayanan/Reforestation Park at Barangay Aurora West here.

According to Jessie Delio Vaquilar, municipal environment and natural resources officer, around 500 fruit-bearing seedlings were planted at the seven-hectare reforestation area by the local government employees.

Some national government agencies that are stationed in the municipality as well as non-government organizations and other stakeholders. also joined the tree planting activity which was led by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office.

In a news article sent to PIA, Edelita Allas, designated information officer and Eagle News correspondent said at the crack of the dawn, some employees had started planting at the site.

“The early birds received eco bags as memorabilia and as gifts to them for their dedication in taking part in the preservation of the forests,” Allas said.

Free congee, coffee and bread were served courtesy of the office of Mayor May Garnace Calaunan as her way of thanking the unity showed by the participants. (TCB/PIA Quirino)
