Saguday MPS, Quirino PPO arrest gambling suspects

CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) - - Joint personnel Saguday Police Station led by Police Major William D. Agpalza, chief of police, and Quirino Police Provincial Office led by Police Major Jaime B. Benedicto, chief PIU, recently arrested three individuals for Violation of P.D. 1602 as amended by RA 8297.

The team proceeded to Purok 6, Brgy. La Paz, Saguday and conducted an anti-illegal gambling operation that resulted in the arrest of the three suspects that include a 43 years old, married, unemployed; a 25 years old, single, self-employed; and a 40 years old, married, unemployed, all residents of the said barangay.

Based on the police report, the suspects were caught on the act of directly taking part in playing wooden pool games locally known as “poker” with bet money.

The suspects were informed of the nature of their arrest and their constitutional rights in dialect known to them.

Confiscated from the suspects were one-piece wooden pool table, four pieces wooden pool sticks, one set of playing cards, 13 pieces of plastic pool chips, and P1,110 cash.

The initial inventory, markings and photographs were witnessed by Barangay Kagawad Emerson Pagbilao of Barangay La Paz, together with the arresting/seizing officers and in the presence of the arrested suspects.

The arrested suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Saguday Police Station for further investigation, documentation, and proper disposition.

A case for Violation of PD 1602 as amended by RA 9287 is now being prepared against the suspects. (TCB/PIA Quirino)
