Stretching 8.019-kilometers, the first segment connects Gulf View Subdivision in Bago Aplaya to Tulip Drive in Matina. Aside from the road network, the project also included two completed parks; the Gulf View Esplanade and the Bago Aplaya Esplanade with a combined area of 5.5 kilometers.

Two more parks are planned at the Tulip Drive section, these planned green spaces will have a total size of eight hectares. These parks will be turned over by the DPWH to the City Government for regular upkeep and maintenance.

President Marcos, in his speech, also recognized that aside from being a transportation infrastructure the Davao City Coastal Road also has many uses.

“Aside from transportation, this road project also features walkways, bicycle lanes, linear parks public spaces that our people need for their comfort, happiness, and well-being… Add to that, this will also form part as a protection against storm surges. This project of the Department of Public Works and Highways is anchored in well-thought-out master plans,” the President said in his message at the opening ceremony at Tulip Drive-Times Beach.
