DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur (PIA) -- President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. vowed that the government will continue to work hard until there are no more starving Filipinos.

He thanked the support of the people of Davao del Sur and stressed that it is the only way for his administration to pay back the people’s care.

Pres. Marcos said the support of the Davsuranons has been there even before the elections until today, adding that since the beginning of his candidacy as President, unity has been his constant challenge to the nation.

“I call on you to make the province a beacon of progress for Mindanao and for the rest of the country. Let us unite in taking care of your rich plains and valleys, your wonderful beaches, abundant seas, and most important the beautiful and reliable people that truly make this province remarkable.  Let us come together to provide brighter and more stable and prosperous lives for ourselves, for our families and for those who come after us,” the President said during the Davao del Sur's 56th foundation anniversary, July 1, where he was the guest of honor.

Thousands of people turned out for the gathering with all the local officials of Davao del Sur, national government  officials, officials and  representatives of the various non-government organizations, and other stakeholders.

On the other hand,  Governor Yvonne Rona-Cagas, in her opening message, underscored the importance of good governance that gives people hope.

She said that with governance, people tend to be resilient, because the provincial government works for their welfare.

“Behaving properly in the provincial government contributes to the nation-building goals, and being less of a headache can make the president happier,” Cagas stressed, as she thanked the President for gracing the 56th founding anniversary of Davao del Sur.

Cagas said that the President gave the province a culmination that can be remembered for ages.  (JSGD/PIA Davao del Sur)
