TARLAC CITY (PIA) -- Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), in partnership with Tarlac State University (TSU), organized a seminar on financial literacy for farmer cooperatives in the province.
The training activity under the agency’s Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program, includes agrarian reform beneficiaries from the municipalities of San Clemente, Camiling, Concepcion, San Manuel, and La Paz.
DTI Tarlac Trade-Industry Development Specialist Rhina Villapaña said the seminar aims to refresh the knowledge of attendees on financial management.
“It serves as a refresher for the management staff of the cooperatives in analyzing and managing their finances, how much money they earn, and how and when to keep and use that money in securing the future of their organization,” Villapaña furthered.
TSU Resource Speakers Maria Teresa Agustin, Rowena Ramos, and Lydia Dela Cruz discussed Introduction to Financial Management, the Basic Areas of Finance, Types of Financial Decisions in Financial Management, the difference between investment and financing decisions, and capital budgeting.
DTI, through its Negosyo Centers in various towns and city, and TSU, through College of Business and Accountancy, pledged to continually assist farmer cooperatives in managing their organization’s businesses. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
