NCRPO hosts 28th Police Community Relations Month kick-off event

QUEZON CITY (PIA) – The 28th Police Community Relations (PCR) Month commences at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) grounds in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City this Monday (July 3).

The event was attended by various advocacy support groups, force multipliers, and other stakeholders which showcases the strength and unity of collaborative partnership established between the community and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Under the theme "Serbisyong Nagkakaisa para sa Ligtas at Maunlad na Pamayanan" (United Service for a Safe and Progressive Community), the PCR Month aims to highlight community engagement, one of the five focal agenda of NCRPO chief Police Major General Edgar Allan Okubo. It serves as an opportunity to recognize and appreciate community participation in crime prevention efforts and public safety programs facilitated by the PNP.

During the event, the importance of community service-oriented policies was emphasized as a vital component in achieving the PNP's mission of maintaining peace, order, and public safety. This approach is in line with the Revitalize Pulis sa Barangay Program (RPSP), spearheaded by Maj. Gen. Okubo. The RPSP involves deploying trained policemen in designated areas across Metro Manila to collaborate with barangay officials in delivering basic services and assistance to residents.

The month-long PCR celebration will feature various activities in partnership with government agencies (NGAs), non-government organizations (NGOs), and other stakeholders united in the relentless fight against illegal drugs, all forms of criminality, and ensuring internal security operations.

Expressing gratitude to its partners, the NCRPO commends their unwavering support and contributions by presenting them with plaques of appreciation during Monday’s event. For the PNP, they serve as inspirations to others and exemplify the spirit of cooperation necessary to achieve a common and shared goal. With the determination to foster crime and drug-free communities, the PNP calls for continued collaboration to create a safe and secure environment for work, residence, and business operations.

During the event, Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary (DSWD) Rex Gatchalian was the guest of honor, who was represented by Undersecretary Rowena  Nina Taduran. The DSWD emphasized the importance of strengthening the relationship with the community that is crucial for increased participation in crime prevention initiatives.

Moreover, the DSWD assures its full support in providing programs and services and to work together with the police officers to build a safer community. The DSWD also expressed gratitude to the police for their valuable contributions during relief and disaster response operations and other various DSWD programs and activities.

"This is also an opportune time to reinforce and renew your relationship with communities to increase their participation in your crime prevention initiatives. Having a strong rapport with the community that you serve is beneficial in ensuring peace and order in our country. Rest assured that the DSWD will also extend our full support in our programs and services for our countrymen and for the betterment of our nation, " Usec. Taduran said.

The flag-raising, awarding, and kick-off ceremonies mark the beginning of a month filled with activities that aim to strengthen police-community partnerships, reinforce the importance of community engagement, and work collectively towards a safer and more prosperous society.

As the 28th PCR Month unfolds, the PNP remains committed to upholding its mission and building stronger bonds between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve, ultimately creating a nation characterized by peace, security, and unity. (PIA-NCR / Photos by NCRPO)
