The LFS, on other hand, is a regular monthly and quarterly survey of households that measures the current state of the Philippine labor market.
In a press release, PSA noted that FIES will cover all 18 municipalities of the province using the tablet-based Computer-Aided Data Collection System (CADaCS) and adopting for the first time the 2023 GeoEnabled Master Sample.
The survey hopes to gather data on family income and family living expenditure and related information affecting income and expenditure levels and patterns in the Philippines and in the sub-national levels and determine the sources of income and income distribution, levels of living and spending patterns, and the degree of inequality among families.
It also aims to provide benchmark information to update weights in the estimation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI); and provide inputs in the estimation of the country, region and provinces’ poverty thresholds and incidences.
Fifty-eight Statistical Researchers (SRs), who underwent a seven-day intensive training, will interview about 1,600 sample households in Antique.
At the national level, approximately 180,000 households will be interviewed for this survey.
These sample housing units are selected from the 2023 Geo-enabled Master Sample (GeoMS) for household-based surveys of the PSA.
The result of the 2023 FIES first visit is expected to be released in December 2023, while the second visit in August 2024. (AGP/PSM/PIA Antique with reports from PSA)
