SOLANO, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - -  The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) gave livelihood kits to the parents and guardians of child laborers in this town through its DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).

Elizabeth Martinez, DOLE provincial chief, said the beneficiaries were given with business capital in the form of packages of raw materials, equipment, tools, and jigs for their chosen businesses such as  street food vending, sari-sari store with rice retailing  and welding and carpentry.

“The awarding was a result of the profiling of child laborers and their families that we conducted through the Child Labor Prevention Elimination Program (CLPEP),” she said.

Martinez said that through the DILP, the child laborers have been rescued by providing livelihood to their parents and guardians which they can use to send their children to school.

She said the beneficiaries were also taught  on simple bookkeeping to capacitate them with skills and knowledge on record-keeping transaction which will be monitored . (BME/PIA NVizcaya)
