Capiz towns receive DSWD cash-for-work, training

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- A total of 560 beneficiaries of the Cash-for-Work and Cash-for-Training modalities under the Risk Resiliency Program-Climate Change Adaptation Mitigation-Disaster Risk Reduction (RRP-CCAM-DRR) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 6 received financial and training support in Dao town on July 5. 

Each of the beneficiaries received P4,100 during a payout activity for their four-days of work and six days of training.

DSWD will distribute the same assistance to 700 beneficiaries of the program in the municipalities of Cuartero and Maayon this July 7. 

RRP-CCAM-DRR Regional Focal Project Development Officer Mylene A. Binondo said that the program aims to train individuals for climate change adaptation and mitigation. 

She added that the short-term project provides employment to the qualified beneficiaries while contributing to the rehabilitation of the natural ecosystem.

It also aims to mitigate adverse effects of climate change and build resiliency of vulnerable communities through tree growing/planting, communal or backyard

gardening, and canal declogging, among others. 

Last month, a total of 490 beneficiaries of the project from Dumarao and Sigma towns also received their respective payment for work and training. (AGP/PLF/PIA Capiz)
