SOLANA, Cagayan (PIA) - - Consumers are now guaranteed that all of their complaints will be acted upon after the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2-Cagayan Provincial Office, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Solana, launched the newest Consumer Welfare Assistance Center (CWAC) in this town, on July 4.

Henry Conel Jr., provincial director, said the CWAC will handle more than just the public’s concerns and emphasized that the CWAC is for everyone since all are considered consumers in general.

"This center will provide services like prompt consumer complaint resolution, evaluation of product quality and safety standards, consumer education and awareness campaigns, and counseling for any consumer-related issues with the aid of our JBC, Ms. Precy Gatchalian, and other assigned personnel," he added.

The director also thanked the full support of the local government unit for the establishment of CWAs and other DTI R2-Cagayan projects and initiatives in the area.

The CWAC is located on the 2nd Floor of the Public Market in Solana town’s center.

During the launch, Municipal Ordinance No. 128 Series of 2022 (An Ordinance Amending Article C.15 of the Market Code of Solana, Cagayan) was presented, as the ordinance adopts the DTI's proposed market facilities such as the Timbangan ng Bayan, the Price Board, the strict implementation of the Price Tag Law, and the establishment of the CWAC.

Mariano Escobar, market supervisor, reiterated the LGU’s gratitude to DTI-Cagayan for the said activity. He also asked all the consumers, business owners, and organizations present to encourage their loved ones and the surrounding barangays to avail of and maximize the services provided at the new CWAC.
