TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - Philippine Information Agency Region 2 formally opened its newly established breastfeeding room located in its new regional office. 

Regional Director Angely L. Mercado said the establishment of the breastfeeding room supports the advocacy of the National Nutrition Council on exclusive breastfeeding and in compliance with the Republic Act 10028 on the establishment of a lactation station in every workplace.

The law mandates that lactation stations shall be accessible to breastfeeding women and shall be adequately provided with the necessary equipment and facilities.

"The opening of PIA 2's new lactation station is also part of the celebration of Nutrition Month this July 2023," Mercado said.

She further said a lactation station will serve not only the employees but also its clients, including local media who are regular clients of the agency who are lactating mothers. (MDCT/OTB/PIA Region 2)
