Dagyaw 2023 set to tackle employment opportunities on July 11

ZAMBOANGA CITY, July 10 (PIA) - In a bid to build mutual trust between the government and the Filipino people, Dagyaw Town Hall Meeting is set here on July 11, 2023, from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm at Western Mindanao State University Gymnasium.

The Dagyaw Open Government Town Hall Meetings in its fifth yearly cycle since 2019, strives to improve trust and confidence between the people and the government by providing an open, neutral, and protected space for dialogue for multiple sectors across society. The town halls serve as an avenue for citizens to interact with the government to get to know more about and provide feedback on public programs and services.

For 2023, Dagyaw will follow the theme: "Building a Better Government-Citizen Engagement; Quality Public Participation and Dialogue".

The topic for this year’s Dagyaw is “Usapang Employment Opportunities: Mapagpasyang Hanapbuhay para sa Lahat” as suggested by civil society organizations and the technical working group.

Among the speakers are Mr. Franklin T. Rivera, senior labor and employment officer (LEO), who will talk about the Employment Opportunities for the informal sector, while Ms. Sheryl U. Joaquin, supervising LEO, will cover employment opportunities for the formal sector.

Meanwhile, Melanie J. Ladjamalik of the Department of Social Welfare and Development will discuss the Sustainable Livelihood Program.

Around 1000 participants from different local government units in Zamboanga Peninsula region are expected to attend the activity. The general public can stream online through the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Western Mindanao Facebook page and other government partner agencies. (RVC/EDT/CCP/PIA9)
