CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga(PIA)--The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) oriented the new batch of beneficiary-organizations of the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) - Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) in the province.
Ma. Cherita Seichi Tuvera, DSWD-Special Projects Focal Person, said the organizations identified by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) are barangays Bulo, Calaccad, Calanan, Gobgob, Ipil, Lacnog, Lacnog West, Magnao, Nambucayan, New Tanglag in Tabuk City, and Sucbot and Magaogao in Pinukpuk municipality.
Tuvera explained that the program provides assistance to community identified development projects that would provide livelihood or income to improve the life of people in hard-to-reach, or conflict-affected areas.
Beneficiaries must have no negative records of previous similar grants, she added. A recipient organization must have at least 20 members.
The SLP grants a P300,000 start-up capital which will be released upon approval of the project proposal and opening of the organization’s bank account.
Another P300,000.00 will be released on the second year if the project shows growth, and if it is sustainable and profitable, additional P300,000.00 willl be granted on the thrd year.
During the orientation, members of the beneficiary-organizations were coached on project proposal preparation and other paper requirements.
To ensure implementation and success of the projects, DSWD will hold regular monitoring and evaluation. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
