CAMIGUIN (PIA)--Helping young workers earn income and experience working at the government, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Camiguin leads the culminating activity and employment coaching of the 133 Government Internship Program (GIP) beneficiaries, July 13, at the New Capitol Building, here.
The interns rendered services for 88 days, from March 6 to July 13, 2023, and were paid P405 per day.
"Congratulations sa inyohang graduation and thank you for your dedication and hardwork. In this program, I know it’s challenging at times but it’s also rewarding because aside sa idea nga in some way or another, nakatabang ta sa atoang mga pamilya," said Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member and Committee Chair on Labor and Employment, Shella Babanto.
(Congratulations on your graduation, and thank you for your dedication and hard work. In this program, I know it's challenging at times, but it's also rewarding because, aside from the idea that in some way or another, we were able to help our families)
She added that aside from the income gained, the interns must give importance to the experience, knowledge, and new skills acquired in addition to making new friends while serving the government.
"And these experiences will lead you or make you grow as an individual and as a professional," Babanto said.
For their part, DOLE Camiguin emphasized that the program aims to help interns develop skills in doing their jobs and make a good impression on how civil servants serve their clients.
The interns were deployed at the local government units and various government offices in the province.
"Nakahatag ni og panginabuhi sa among pamilya then na-provide namo among mga needs nga kinahanglan matag adlaw. Diri sa GIP, nakakat-on pud ko labi na sa computer skills; hinay-hinay nakalearn ko’g new skills, new knowledge sa paggamit sa mga computer, ug nakabenefit pud nga nakatabang ko sa mga kliyente, labi na sa mga TUPAD nga beneficiaries," Keen Estrada, 23, one of the interns, said.
(It gave our family a living, and then we were able to provide for our needs that we need every day. Here at GIP, I also learned computer skills; I slowly gained new skills and knowledge in using computers, and I also benefited from helping clients, especially TUPAD beneficiaries)
Under Executive Order (EO) No. 139 s. 1993 and DOLE Administrative Order No. 260-15, GIP, also known as Kabataan 2000, aims to provide opportunities and engage young workers to serve the general public in government agencies and entities projects and programs at the national and local levels.
