World Vision PH shapes Marawi parents, caregivers to foster proper child care

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The World Vision Philippines, being a renowned child-focused humanitarian organization, has consistently showcased its dedication to advance the overall well-being of children, especially in this city.

This has been manifested during the recent culmination of its long-term initiative dubbed the Go Baby Go Parenting Programme, which has offered families with underweight children a ten-session training focusing on responsible child care and responsive caregiving, including hygiene and sanitation practices.

Since the onset of the undertaking in 2021, five barangays here have, accordingly, benefited from the learning discussions, to wit, Barangays Cadayonan 1 and 2, Malimono, Rapasun, and Tuca Ambolong.

Moreover, a total of 104 mothers and 78 fathers underwent the said training, while 225 children enjoyed the various interventions brought to their respective areas.

World Vision Philippines Project Coordinator Cecile Cenas underscored that their program was fueled by their determination to ameliorate the record of well-nourished Filipino mothers and children aged zero to five years old and stir awareness about the needs and protection of a child.

She also said this was part of their vow to remain a relentless partner of the Department of Health and the National Nutrition Council in promoting affordable and sustainable nutrition.

"The organization works with communities to build a secure and profitable livelihood that will help families put healthy and nutritious meals on their tables," said Cenas.

As they made it a point that their mission would be fulfilled, the project coordinator ardently acknowledged the efforts of the parents and caregivers in their covered communities, who painstakingly grasped the learning insights that the development organization wanted to convey.

Cenas was likewise looking forward to the fact that their beneficiaries would forever bring and apply in their day-to-day ventures with their children the lessons they obtained.

"Sana po ang lahat ng inyong mga natutunan na dagdag kaalaman ay magsilbi ninyong gabay sa pag-aalaga at pagpapalaki sa inyong mga anak upang sila ay lumaking malusog at ma-develop ang kanilang mga kakayahan," she said.

(I hope that all the additional knowledge you learned will serve as your guide in taking care of and nurturing your children so that they may grow healthy and develop their abilities.)

In pursuit of continuing the gains of their program, World Vision Philippines expressed that they would keep on conducting community-based learning, such as an orientation on backyard gardening to have food for all homes, complemented by the distribution of seeds to strengthen the drive on prioritizing nutritious food, improving food security, addressing food affordability, and promoting community and family practices to ensure a maintained diet.
