Mountain Province PLGU continues to support farmers  thru KADIWA

BONTOC, Mountain Province(PIA)--The  provincial government  continuously shows  support to local farmers  as it  joined in the  simultaneous  launching of the Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa para sa Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita(KADIWA) ng Pangulo 2023 on July 17 here.

Provincial Administrator Franklin C. Odsey representing Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr.,  along with Mountain Province Agriculture Program Coordinating Officer Beverly T. Pekas, Provincial Veterinary Officer Rodelio Bagawi, National Food Authority Warehouse Supervisor Daniel R. Bobola,  Ivy Rose Khayad  of the Department of  the Interior and Local Government, and Sangguniang Panlalawigan members  led the program and ribbon cutting ceremony  at the  Provincial Plaza.

Displayed  for sale were   products  of  various micro, small and medium enterprises(MSMEs) and government-assisted farmer, livestock, poultry and fishery organizations  such as vegetables, fruits and crops, rice, tilapia, handicrafts,  processed foods, brown eggs, and meat products, among others.

Odsey said that the Kadiwa  is a help to the farmers. “The KADIWA is not new to us, it is a mode of helping the farmers sell their goods. It is a mode  of assisting our farmers in marketing their products. ” It is a way of containing inflation.

He added that  this  is connected to the Barangay Muna Program of the provincial government which aims to assist MSMEs and the agriculture sector  in marketing their produce.

Pekas informed   that the KADIWA is a program of former President Ferdinand Marcos and is now being enhanced by Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

Through the convergence of the different government agencies and their partners,  the KADIWA primarily seeks to provide consumers with access to quality yet affordable goods and commodities, and facilitate access of farmers, fisherfolk, and micro-enterprises to the market.

Pekas  said  that the program is a win-win solution for both farmers and consumers, because   it is a direct marketing strategy for farmers to bring their produce in the KADIWA outlets and the consumers to buy in lower prices.(JDP/CVBT-PIA Mt. Province)
