ZAMBOANGA CITY, July 20 (PIA) – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is inviting researchers to submit and present papers or participate in the 4th International Conference on Multidisciplinary Research.
Organized by the Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ) through the University Research and Development Center (URDC), this event will be held on October 05-07, 2023 at the Garden Orchid Hotel, Canelar, Zamboanga City.
The DOST is constantly working with government and private research and development institutions, the academe, industry and other concerned agencies to direct and ensure that results of science, technology and innovation endeavors are geared towards and are utilized in areas of maximum economic and social benefit for the people.
The theme of the conference is centered on "Utilizing United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGS) as a Universal Research Agenda on Emerging Global Communities''. The conference aims to establish research culture through interactive, integrated, professional and scholastic engagement of all research institutions through sharing and exchanging best research practices; disseminate research findings for further utilization and publication; and advance educational set-up through research and innovations for global excellence.
Topics or streams for paper presentations are centered on any of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs) to wit: 1) no poverty, 2) zero hunger, 3) good health and well-being, 4) quality education, 5) gender equality, 6) clean water and sanitation, 7) affordable and clean energy, 8) decent work and economic growth, 9) industry, innovation and infrastructure, 10) reduced inequalities, 11) sustainable cities and communities, 12) responsible production and consumption, 13) climate action, 14) life below water, 15) life on land, 16) Peace, justice and strong institutions, and 17) partnerships for the goals.
Interested participants must submit a completed paper with a 200 to 250 word abstract (in MS Word format). Abstract must contain five parts: (1) introduction of the topic; (2) objectives; (3) method; (4) results; (5) conclusion; and (6) with keywords having four parts: (a) discipline of the study; (b) concepts investigated; (c) methods and process; (d) geography (country/continent). It must be accomplished with a 2x2 photo, institution/organization logo.

Meanwhile, DOST has the Research and Development (R&D) Support Program to provide financial support to research projects consistent with the priorities identified in the national research agenda for industry, energy, and emerging technology sectors. Research grants may be availed by government research and academic institutions as well as companies.
For one, to support the Philippine startup ecosystem, the DOST- Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) has established programs such as the Startup Research Grant Program and the Technology Business Incubation (TBI) Program.
The TBI Program has a proposed budget of Php115 Million for 2023, according to the updated Harmonized National Research and Development Agenda 2022-2028 (HNRDA 2022-2028).
The HNRDA 2022-2028 was prepared and updated by the DOST to ensure that results of science, technology and innovation endeavors are geared towards and are utilized in areas of maximum economic and social benefit for the people.
The 4th International Conference on Multidisciplinary Research will provide impetus collaboration among the different universities and institutions across the globe on matters related to research and contribute to such developments and share best practices that can be applied in the organization for its improvements.
