Farmers undergo bamboo propagation training

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - At least 35 village officials and farmers of Antagan 1st, Tumauini, Isabela have undergone skills training on bamboo propagation and nursery establishment.  

The two-day training was conducted on July 11-12, 2023 by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Isabela in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Tumauini.

The participants in the said training were able to know the crucial techniques in bamboo propagation and establishing well-protected nurseries to safeguard the bamboo propagules from potential human and animal destruction to avoid mortality of the bamboo propagules.

DTI Isabela bamboo focal person Emma Jane Domingo, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources officer Engr. Lucky Jay Limbauan and DTI Junior Business Counselor for Tumauini Mydelyn Soriano, assured continuous support during the realization of the training’s objectives.

Domingo said the conducted training is part of the ongoing collaboration between the DTI and LGU Tumauini in establishing the Bamboo Development Program within the municipality reinforcing town’s Bamboo Ordinance.

“This skills training aims to support in promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities and fostering the growth of the local bamboo industry in the town,” Domingo said.
