TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - -Government employees from various agencies in nearby offices as well as communities near the Regional Government flocked to the Cagayan Provincial Capitol grounds to avail fresh and affordable agricultural products as well as One Town, One Product (OTOP).
Various products of farmers and fishermen's cooperatives, Rural Improvement Club members, the 4H Club, and other rural organizations were on display, but the products didn't last long as people bought them in bulk.
Dina Villacampa and her peers grabbed their favorite fresh organic salad in a bowl for only P100. A product of D&D Backyard Garden Hydroponics, the bowl comes in variants where you can choose lettuce topped with mangoes, dragon fruit, avocado, melon, cucumber, and crispy chicken flakes with sauce in it.
Gov. Manuel Mamba, together with heads of the lead agencies, lead the opening of the KnP at the Capitol grounds.
Manjou's Delicacies, one of the recently awarded MSMEs in the 2023 Productivity Olympics, offers its pure wild honey on sale with its honey banana vinegar product.
Punta Fisherfolks Association has also a display of different processed and dried fish products and seaweed byproducts like its seaweed chips, which are very nutritious.
Woven bags, which are handmade products of the Sta. Praxedes Sarakat Women Weavers Association are also displayed but immediately grabbed by many office workers.
Manjou's Wild Honey is one of the DTI, DOST and DOLE supported local products and one of Cagayan's best products on sale during KnP and selected pasalubong centers in the region.
These bags are made from sarakat leaves is Sta. Praxedes' One Town One Product handmade by Sta. Praxedes Women Weavers Association.
The KnP is an activity of various agencies led by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Agriculture (DA), National Food Authority (NFA), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Provincial Government of Cagayan.
Also, the provincial governments of Batanes, Isabela, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya had their respective KnP, too.
D&D Backyard Garden Hydrophonics offers healthy salad in a bowl for only P100.00. This is of the most saleable products during the KnP here where first batch of delivery didn't last for an hour.
Cagayan Gov. Manuel Mamba lauded the effort of the participating organizations for their support in the campaign of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in his desire to bring to the doorstep of the consumers safe and affordable agricultural products as well as other OTOP products.
The KNP is a program that allows farmers to directly sell their goods to consumers and solely obtain the profits, making it cheaper when they reach the consumers.
Gedielyn Morales, owner of Manjou's Delicacies, said the program has provided an avenue for her to reach more buyers and let her products be known.
"Thank you to DTI and DOLE for helping me reach a wider market and most importantly, for the support they have been providing to a small-time entrepreneur like me," she said. (MDCT/GVB/PIA Cagayan)
