SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro (PIA) – A total of 908 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program from the island municipalities of Looc and Lubang recently received their wages after rendering 10 days of social community service under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Provincial Office.
Each beneficiary received P3,550, totaling P3,223,400, for maintaining cleanliness in their assigned barangays from June 7 to 16, 2023.
The program aims to provide emergency employment for the beneficiaries who are displaced or seasonal workers, unemployed, or whose livelihoods were affected by calamities to augment their daily needs.
“This temporary wage employment is a part of DOLE’s recovery initiative to deter the negative impact of the calamity on the lives and economy of the affected areas. The TUPAD program is living proof of the relentless support of the government to the displaced workers of Occidental Mindoro,” said DOLE Provincial Director Peter James D. Cortazar.
Prior to their work assignments, TUPAD beneficiaries underwent orientations to ensure their preparedness and safety led by DOLE Provincial Office in partnership with the Local Government Units (LGUs). (DSG/PIA Mimaropa-OccMin)
