Aklan PPO receives new firearms, equipment

KALIBO, Aklan -- The Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) recently received ordnance items from the Philippine National Police (PNP) national headquarters as part of its modernization program.

APPO formally acquired the 18 Galil ACE 22N basic assault rifle worth P61,392 each; ammunitions; 38 hytera handheld radio with complete accessories; and 10 combat helmets, in a blessing and turnover ceremony on July 17 at Camp Pastor Martelino, Brgy. New Buswang, here.

“We in Aklan PPO are truly grateful for the top-of-the-line equipment given to us by the national headquarters to boost the move, shoot, communicate, and investigate capabilities of the police force,” APPO’s Officer-in-Charge PCol. Victorino E. Romanillos, Jr. said.

He added that such will be a great help in Aklan PNP’s operational functions especially now with the upcoming elections.

The top cop of the province reported that the new firearms and equipment were distributed also to the different municipal police stations in the province as identified by their logistics.

Out of the 18 basic assault rifles, 10 were given to Malay MPS, five to Kalibo MPS, and one each to Balete, Banga, and Lezo MPS.

Four of the handheld radio were turned over to Lezo MPS and two each to the MPS of Altavas, Balete, Banga, Batan,

Buruanga, Ibajay, Kalibo, Libacao, Madalag, Makato, Malinao, Nabas, New Washington, Numancia and Tangalan.

The 1st and 2nd Provincial Aklan Mobile Force Company also received the same equipment, while 10 combat helmets were given to the Kalibo MPS.

Kalibo Mayor Juris B. Sucro, who was the guest of honor of the event, marked the ceremony as a significant milestone in the collective journey towards a safer province and said that the ordnance items handed over symbolizes the continued commitment in equipping the police force with the necessary tools and resources to effectively carry out their duties.

He also commended the brave men and women of the APPO for their tireless efforts in ensuring the safety of the streets and for being the guardians of peace and order.

“However, let us not forget that the true strength of any law enforcement agency lies not in the weapons and equipment they possess, but in the character, courage, and compassion of the men and women who serve. It is their unwavering dedication, professionalism, and commitment to justice that truly make a difference in our community,” Sucro reminded.  (AGP/SQP/PIA Aklan)
