Antique IOs urged to keep partnerships, strengthen linkages

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- Government information officers (IOs) in this province were urged to maintain partnerships and strengthen linkages in the pursuit of delivering relevant information to the public.

In a meeting of the Antique Association of Information Officers (AAIO), July 20, former PIA Antique manager and now Province of Antique- Peace & Order and Public Safety Office (POPS) head Margie L. Gadian said that existing partnerships must be sustained and reinforced, especially when public service delivery is concerned.

Gadian stressed that the effective communication of the programs, services, and policies of the government requires collaboration, hence, her call to the information officers of national government agencies (NGAs), local government units (LGUs), and government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) to establish good working relations with each other.

She then expressed confidence in the support of the AAIO in helping bring government information to the grassroots, particularly those involving government initiatives in ending local communist armed conflict and preserving peace, order, and public safety throughout the province.

Gadian served as a resource speaker during the meeting, alongside Dr. Marco Rafael D. Ardamil from the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (ProVet) who shared updates on the African Swine Fever (ASF) situation.

Dr. Ardamil said that financial losses in the province’s hog industry due to ASF have reached over P47 million as of July 18, thus, he pleaded to the public to follow precautionary measures and quarantine protocols. This, he said would lessen further destruction of property and livelihood.

Meanwhile, Pandan town information officer-designate and AAIO Vice President for LGUs Peter Edward Perez, on behalf of AAIO President Primrose Zamora of DPWH Antique, presided over the government IOs' meeting held at the ANIAD Conference Room of the New Provincial Capitol.

Perez reiterated the crucial role of information officers as a gateway of relevant information to the public, urging his fellow IOs to take advantage of their functions in empowering Antiqueños toward nation-building.

For her part, PIA Antique Manager Pilar Mabaquiao supported the statement of Gadian and enjoined the AAIO members to work closely together in providing the Antiqueños with the necessary information they need to make their lives better.

Mabaquiao then expressed her gratitude to the POPS of the Provincial Government of Antique for sponsoring the AAIO’s fourth meeting this year.
