Bacolod City to run after fake PWD ID users

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) -- The Bacolod City government will run after people who use fake Person with Disability (PWD) Identification Cards to get discounts from commercial establishments.

Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) Chief Alma Gustilo warned that the city government would file appropriate charges against those found guilty as it is against the Magna Carta for PWD.

She said PDAO has already confiscated more than 10 PWD fake IDs which are believed to be fabricated and confirms the IDs did not come from PDAO.

Gustilo noted there are people who go to their office and ask for a booklet that goes with ID for a discount, but they can identify IDs presented as fake.

She asked the public to report to PDAO if they suspect people using bogus PWD IDs and also to report the fixers because they will also be held liable.

According to Gustilo, they are doing their best to prevent the proliferation of such false documents and are now planning to upgrade genuine PWD IDs into plastic with QR codes.

To PWDs who wish to apply for an ID, the following papers are needed: an application form signed by the attending physician and countersigned by city medical physicians, medical abstract or medical certificate, barangay certification signed by the punong barangay, 1 valid ID or birth certificate, 2 pieces 1x1 ID photo, and certification from the City Health Office.
