LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte (PIA) – Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3 is raised over the Province of Ilocos Norte, based on the weather bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on July 25, 5:00 p.m.
To date, Ilocos Norte is experiencing light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorm in the extreme north of the province with strong force winds.
Because of these impacts by Egay, there were reported power outages in some areas but were restored immediately. Moreover, minor landslide was recorded in Barangay Pancian in Pagudpud but was cleared immediately by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Meanwhile, pre-emptive evacuations were already conducted by local government units. In Banna, a total of 19 individuals composed of 67 people at Barangay Bugasi, seven households with 34 people, and one household with six people were transferred to the evacuation centers.
Power interruption remains to be a concern as Egay brings torrential rains with strong winds.
Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc led the inspection to an incident in Pasuquin wherein a heavy equipment turned upside down that caused heavy damage to transmission poles along the highway. The clearing and restoration are currently being conducted to restore electricity in the affected areas.
According to Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Resiliency Office Head Marcell Tabije, all frontline agencies are on alert status and search and rescue personnel are ready for possible deployment. (JCR/MJTAB, PIA Ilocos Norte)
