CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - At least 300 Indigenous Peoples (IPs), who belonged to the Dumagats in the coastal town of Palanan, were beneficiaries of the free legal aid and gift-giving activity conducted recently by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) - North Luzon in partnership with the IBP Isabela Chapter.
The activity was led by IBP - North Luzon Region Governor Atty. Minerva R. Magtanao-Taguinod, accompanied by some IBP-Isabela chapter officers held on July 20, 2023.
“Legal services should be accessible to everyone, which is why we went as far as the coastal town of Palanan to give free legal aid and conduct an outreach program at the same time. Just like the previous activities that we conducted, land disputes and ownership are the most common complaints that we hear,” Atty. Taguinod said.
The IBP-Isabela Chapter is continuously conducting outreach programs in various places in the province to extend free legal services to marginalized residents as one of their activities.
Taguinod said the IBP-North Luzon will continue supporting such undertakings, seeing how important their services are to the needy residents. (MDCT/MGE/PIA Isabela)
