CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of this province has deployed six water purification units, including personnel in charge of the operation of the said units, in the province of Cagayan, which was severely affected by Super Typhoon Egay. This was during the online Response Cluster meeting in Cagayan Valley yesterday.
Typhoon Egay crossed Northern Luzon and made landfall in some municipalities in the northern part of Cagayan Province, where thousands of residents were affected and evacuated.
Atty. Constante Foronda, Jr., PDRRM officer, said that the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD)-2 has requested his office to deploy at least three water sanitation units to typhoon-affected LGUs in Cagayan. Instead, his office deployed at least six water sanitation units to ensure that the affected residents will have safe and potable water while they are at the evacuation centerss
He said that the units can purify at least 120 gallons of water per hour to be used by residents in the typhoon-affected areas.
Foronda added that only three coastal LGUs in Isabela were affected by the typhoon, namely the municipalities of Maconacon, Divilacan, and Palanan, and the need to extend help to needy LGUs is conducted to help recover after the calamities.

He said the that PDRRMO only recorded at least 532 families with a total of 1, 680 individuals that were evacuated in the respective evacuation centers in the three coastal towns and in San Mariano respectively. (MDCT/MGE/PIA Isabela)
