“We’d like to thank our President for providing us funds to achieve our fill up percentage requirement for the year. With that, we can now effectively perform our mandate as the primary law enforcement agency of our country,” said PBGen. Maranan.
In addition, the PNP representative also shared that the PNP has successfully undertaken 140 infrastructure projects that mainly catered to the construction of police stations in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
Other significant achievements under the Marcos administration include the launching of the multisectoral drug demand reduction campaign dubbed as the BIDA (Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan) program in a bid to intensify the fight against the illegal drug problem.
Meanwhile, a total of 102 additional Balay Silangan Reformation centers were established nationwide to further extend the provision of prevention, rehabilitation, and education interventions among drug personalities seeking reform.
It can be recalled that President Marcos remains resolute in removing law enforcers who are involved in illegal drug activities from service with regard to the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) call for courtesy resignations to cleanse the ranks of PNP.
“I will be accepting their resignations. In their stead, we will install individuals with unquestionable integrity, and who will be effective and trustworthy in handling the task of eliminating this dreaded and corrosive social curse,” Marcos stated.
To date, the President accepted 18 courtesy resignations upon the recommendation of the National Police Commission Ad Hoc Advisory Group that was tasked to investigate the personnel who responded to the call.
In April 2023, President Marcos led the change of command ceremony for the 29th PNP Chief PGen. Benjamin Acorda Jr.
As the police force marks a new leadership, the President reminded them that law enforcement agencies should remain effective in its intelligence and investigations to protect the rule of law. (PIA-NCR)
