LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte (PIA) – Following the visit of Senator Imee Marcos in the province to assess the damages brought by Typhoon Egay on July 28, one of the priority agenda is the restoration of electricity in the communities.
“First order of business, we need to energize the province until today,” said Senator Marcos.
In the latest report by the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC), about 6.80% of the total number of barangays in the province have been energized.
With this development in the restoration efforts of INEC, the senator has ordered the swift restoration of electricity following their meeting with the electric coop.
“Several teams are coming from Tarlac, through the NEA (National Electrification Administration), and a whole group from Pangasinan,” added Marcos.
Both the senator and Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc are prioritizing the establishment of utility services as part of their initiatives to alleviate the situation of the people who are hardly hit by Egay.
On the part of INEC, they have assured its member-consumers that their “brave warriors of light” are working unceasingly to fix power lines and posts that were affected by the strong winds of the typhoon.
After the situation briefing at the Provincial Resiliency Office, the governor and senator went around the province to personally check the situation status and distribute relief packs to the residents. (JCR/MJTAB PIA Ilocos Norte)
