LGU Maddela inaugurates completed roads under DILG’s SGLGIF, LGSF-SBDP

CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) - - The municipal government of Maddela recently inaugurated the completed road projects funded under the of Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) and Local Government Support Fund – Support to the Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and

The SGLGIF project includes P5 million worth farm-to-market road at Fontelera Extension, Villa Sur, Maddela which was completed on July 11, 2023. The said project was awarded to Maddela being one of the national SGLG awardees last 2022.

The DILG also turned over the following completed 2022 Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP) Projects to LGU Maddela: Upgrading of Farm to Market Road at Barangay Cabua-an; Concreting of Farm to Market Road at Baynardo St., Purok 5, Sto. Niño; Concreting of Farm to Market Road at Barangay Villa Gracia; Upgrading of Farm to Market Road at Barangay San Martin; Concreting of Farm to Market Road at Barangay Ysmael; and Concreting of Farm to Market Road at San Marcelino St., Purok 1, Sto. Niño

Mayor Rimel C. Tolentino expressed his gratitude to all those involved in the successful implementation of the projects saying that the collaborative efforts have paved the way for progress in the community.

On the other hand, DILG Regional Director Agnes A. De Leon, who personally graced the inauguration and turn-over emphasized the significance of the said projects, particularly in conflict-ridden communities as she acknowledged the profound impact that infrastructural development can have on fostering peace, stability, and socio-economic growth in such areas.

“The projects will not only provide tangible benefits to the residents but also serve as a beacon of hope,” Director Ancheta said.

For his part, First Lieutenant Nelson Rabosa of the 86th Infantry–Highlander Battalion 5th ID of the Philippine Army, encouraged the community members to sustain the insurgency-free status of the province by being vigilant and reminded everyone that violence is not a key to progress but unity and cooperation.

As their response, Punong Barangay Rogelio T. Tuppil of Brgy. Villa Hermoza Sur, Jaime V. Munar of Brgy. Ysmael, and Gaspar G. Cablinan of Brgy. San Martin expressed their gratitude on behalf of their constituents. They also extended their appreciation to the different agencies for their commitment to the welfare and upliftment of the people in Maddela.

The activity was also graced by DILG Quirino personnel headed by Provincial Director Atty. Salvacion Z. Baccay, personnel of the 86th Infantry – Highlander Battalion 5th ID of the Philippine Army, municipal and barangay LGU functionaries as well as the project beneficiaries.

The SGLGIF, formerly known as Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) is an incentive given in the form of a financial grant to eligible LGUs under the Local Governance Performance Management Program (LGPMP) of the DILG while the LGSF-SBDP is the Government’s priority program to usher development and deliver basic services to conflict-affected barangays that lagged due to the terror caused by the CPP-NPA Terrorists.
