QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The regional office of the National Nutrition Council in the National Capital Region (NNC-NCR) challenged Grade 7 students in Metro Manila to interpret 2023 Nutrition Month theme “HEALTHY DIET gawing affordable FOR ALL!” through posters.
The NNC NCR conducted On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest on July 18, 2023 at the NNC Boardroom, Taguig City in support of the 2023 Nutrition Month (NM) celebration.
A total of ten (10) participants from the local government units of Caloocan, Malabon, Valenzuela, Taguig, Pateros, San Juan, Pasay, Las Piñas, Parañaque, and Muntinlupa joined the contest.
Using only oil pastels, participants were given three (3) hours to interpret the theme of the Nutrition Month. They were also required to submit one-paragraph description of their poster.
Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator of National Nutrition Council – NCR (NNC-NCR) Milagros Elisa Federizo cited the importance of tapping school children in the Nutrition Month activities and in using art to spread nutrition information.
“Ang nutrisyon ang pundasyon ng ating kalusugan dahil hindi kayo makakapag-aral at hindi ninyo maabot ang inyong pangarap kung kayo ay sakitin dahil kulang sa tamang nutrisyon,” RNPC Federizo said.
“Naniniwala kami na kapag ang mga kabataan ang nagshare ng information sa kapwa kabataan ay mas magiging effective ito,” she added.
She encouraged the participants to be nutrition advocates and share information on good nutrition to their classmates, families, and friends.
After the given time and careful deliberation, the Board of Judges composed of Ms. Karen Santos (Graphic Designer of PIA-NCR), Ms. Abigail Contreras (Draftsman of MMCHD), and Ms. Marie Geraldine Liboro (Chair of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics of University of the East – Manila) adjudged the following students a winners:
