TACLOBAN CITY (PIA) – The Police Regional Office 8 is focusing on identified areas of concern in Eastern Visayas as part of its preparation for the ucoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in October this year.
Brigadier General Vincent S. Calanoga, regional director of the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO8), said the areas of concern being referred to are still subject for validation.
“Based sa situation review namin meron tayong areas of concern so yun ang tinututukan natin. Of course, we will validate that together with AFP and other law enforcement agencies, under the supervision of the Commission on Elections,” Calanoga said.
On the first week of August, PBGen. Calanoga is scheduled to meet with the Comelec officials in the region and other law enforcement agencies to discuss more on the preparations of the forthcoming elections.
Areas of concern are those areas with political and armed threats from various groups.
As to number of PNP personnel, Calanoga assured the people of Eastern Visayas that they have enough personnel to provide security aside from the augmentation force from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and other law enforcement agencies.
The election period will begin on August 28, 2023 until November 29, 2023.
As the election draws near, Calanoga asked for public’s cooperation as he looks forward to a peaceful and orderly barangay and SK elections. (MMP/CBA/PIA-8)
