QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- In recognition of exceptional contributions to the country's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) system, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), in partnership with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), is set to launch the prestigious "Dangal Bantayog ng Katatagan" awards.
This much-anticipated event will serve as a culminating activity for the National Disaster Resilience Month 2023 (NDRM) is set on July 31, 2023 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).
The "Dangal Bantayog ng Katatagan" awards are more than just accolades; they are a symbol of honor and acknowledgement for the remarkable individuals who have gone above and beyond to make communities secured, flexible, and disaster-proof. By acknowledging and highlighting their tireless efforts, the NDRRMC seeks to inspire others to join forces in the ongoing mission of building a more disaster-resilient nation.
Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno, the NDRRMC Executive Director and Civil Defense Administrator, expressed his deep appreciation for those who have dedicated their lives to the advancement of DRRM. "This is our way of showing appreciation and gratitude for the exceptional contributions of those people who worked and continue to work on making our communities safer, adaptive, and disaster-resilient," he said. He further emphasized the importance of fostering strong partnerships and continuously collaborating with stakeholders to strengthen the nation's overall disaster preparedness.
To further enrich the occasion, a summit comprising various sessions will be held before the awarding ceremony. This momentous gathering will facilitate essential discussions on strengthening partnerships among stakeholders and will showcase project presentations from various government agencies directly engaged in DRRM. The summit serves as a platform to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore innovative approaches to tackling the challenges posed by disasters.
