‘Ayuda’ programs to continue despite lifting of State of Public Health Emergency

MANILA, (PIA) — The government will not stop implementing its “ayuda” or aid programs that were first launched during the height of the COVDI-19 pandemic.

Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the same programs will continue next year even though the State of Public Health Emergency has been lifted, following the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) submission of the 2024 National Expenditure Program to the House of Representatives .

Some of the programs are the “Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program” or “4Ps” with a P112.84-billion proposed budget.

The AICS program, or Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations, will also continue with P20-billion and the school based feeding program with P11.7-billion.

Pangandaman also said the government will continue its fuel subsidy distribution with a total of P3.5-billion funding.

About P2.5-billion will go to the Department of Transportation and P1-billion to the Department of Agriculture.

Also allocated funds for 2024 are the COVID-19 compensation package and health emergency allowance of healthcare and non-healthcare workers with a P20-billion fund.

She said a new aid program will also be launched through the “Walang Gutom” or Food Stamp Program of the DSWD with a proposed budget of P1.89-billion pesos.

As the country is also done with the pandemic response, the government has also strengthened the livelihood and employment programs, Pangandaman added.

This includes TUPAD with P12.9-billion and integrated livelihood program funded with P2.3-billion pesos. (PIA-NCR)
