Taguig opens Center for Disaster Management

Elevates disaster and emergency response capabilities

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – The Taguig City Government opens its Center for Disaster Management located in Barangay Central Signal on Thursday (August 3).

According Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, who lead the inauguration of the building, the facility aims to elevate disaster and emergency response capabilities in the City.

The five-story building stands as a vital hub for coordinating emergency efforts, ensuring swift and effective response in times of calamities and disasters.

It also doubles as an essential venue for providing city personnel with comprehensive trainings and seminars on disaster management and response.

Designed to accommodate various critical functions, the Center houses the TOWER - Taguig Open Weather & Environmental Reporting System, along with other government offices. In times of calamities, it serves as an evacuation center, offering refuge and assistance to those in need.

The Center boasts of a specialized training room, open to individuals seeking to acquire fundamental disaster management skills. The room is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and essential equipment, allowing first responders and rescuers to respond effectively to emergencies.

The Center also include an indoor sports which can be used for basketball, volleyball, badminton.

According to Mayor Lani, the City Government have trained a total of 17,000 individual on standard first aid procedures from various barangays, private agencies, employees, schools and corporations in the City since January of this year. (taguig pio/pia-ncr)
