1K residents of P'sinan town receive cash aid from AICS program

DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – A total of 1,000 residents from Calasiao town received financial assistance on Saturday, August 5 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Field Office 1 under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program.

The distribution of cash aid to the victims of the typhoons Egay and Falcon was led by Presidential sister and Senator Maria Imelda Josefa Remedios “Imee” R. Marcos and held at the Calasiao Sports Complex.

Each beneficiary received P3,000.

The AICS program is one of the government’s efforts aimed at providing immediate and temporary assistance to individuals and families affected by crises such as fire, illness or loss of a family member, natural disasters, and other situations.

Senator Marcos said the provision of the assistance will help the affected families brought by recent typhoons.

“Noong nagdeklara si mayor ng state of calamity, natakot kami dahil nga may 70 families na na-evacuate; kaya kabado kami kung okay ba kayo? Kaya ito nga, magbibigay tayo ng kaonting tulong,” she said.

The senator also distributed toys and nutriban, a bread product introduced by the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., to the children.

Mayor Kevin Roy Macanlalay expressed his gratitude to Senator Marcos for helping the people in Calasiao.

“Kami po rito sa bayan ng Calasiao ay lubos na nagpapasalamat kay Senator Imee Marcos dahil nakita po nila ang aming sitwasyon at personal po silang lumapit, nakipagkita, at nakipaghawak-kamay sa ating mga kababayan dito sa Calasiao,” he said.

Calasiao was declared under a state of calamity through Resolution No. 91 on July 28 due to the effects of Typhoon Egay and the southwest monsoon affecting Northern Luzon.

“To mitigate and ensure the safety of the people and their livelihood from the continuous rain and rise on river water level, there is a need to declare a state of calamity to extend assistance to all affected families,” the resolution stated.

The senator also delivered the same assistance to typhoon victims in the towns of Sta. Barbara and Binmaley and in Dagupan City. (JCR/AMB/JCDR/PIA Pangasinan)
