La Union’s 1st district secures more than P1 billion in projects and assistance

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The Office of La Union First District Representative Francisco Paolo Ortega V reported a total of P1.007 billion worth of projects and assistance secured for the benefit of different sectors in the district from June 2022 to June 2023.
 
Of the figure, P27.8 million in educational assistance benefitted 6,994 students; 2,646 beneficiaries received medical and burial assistance worth P22.4 million; and 3,852 beneficiaries received Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations worth P18.4 million in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Field Office 1.
 
Another 9,323 beneficiaries received emergency employment assistance and 208 beneficiaries received internship support in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Office 1.
 
Further, 228 beneficiaries received skills and livelihood training through the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Regional Office 1.
 
The Office of Congressman Ortega has also secured infrastructure projects worth P876 million for 61 projects in the first district of La Union in tandem with the Department of Public Works and Highways-Regional Office 1.
 
Partnership with different hospitals in and outside of the province has also led to the provision of assistance to a total of 18,066 beneficiaries and P51 million under the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center, P25 million in medical assistance under the district hospitals and P19 million under specialty hospitals outside La Union.
 
The Office of Congressman Ortega has also shelled out P2.1 million in personal funds to support various initiatives and which benefitted another 347 beneficiaries.
 
Congressman Ortega meanwhile noted the support, partnership, and cooperation of regional and local line agencies and other stakeholders which contributed to the significant accomplishment, noting their shared duty to give back to the people they serve.
 
“All this would not have been possible without the help of our local government agency partners. As public servants, it is our duty and privilege to give back to the people we serve. Naririnig po namin kayo,”  Ortega said.
 
In addition, he has a total of 130 bills authored and another 72 co-authored bills in the House of Representatives. (JCR/AMB/CCMT, PIA La Union)
