Tuguegarao City to hold biggest launching of annual festival

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - The Tuguegarao City government will be conducting what is considered as a first ever multi-sectoral parade to open the week-long celebration of the city’s 2023 Pavvulurun-Afi Festival this August 8.

This is according to city mayor Maila S. Ting-Que during a press conference held yesterday.

The march was set to include representatives of different societal sectors of the city such as students, civil service organizations, media, government line agencies, uniformed personnel, the provincial and city government, including representatives of the city’s 49 barangays among others.

According to Mayor Ting-Que, the multi-sectoral nature of the activity reflects the essence of pavvulurun or the Ibanag term for oneness and camaraderie, which are qualities that serve as the inspiration for the festival name.

The mayor also publicly called for inclusive participation and the setting aside of political differences in the spirit of oneness.

Aside from the said sectoral representatives joining the parade, Mayor Ting-Que also acknowledged the support of the business sector as well as the Church in the overall celebration of the festival.

The first day of the week-long event will also include a mass, the opening of the trade fair at the St. Peter’s Cathedral’s grounds, as well as a concert where prominent singer Ice Seguerra is scheduled to perform.

The full schedule of activities for the 2023 Pavvurulun-Afi Festival is available for viewing on the Tuguegarao City Information Office Facebook page. (JKC/PIA 2)
