DTI invites shoppers to 2023 ASEAN Online Sale Day

QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is all set for the highly anticipated 2023 ASEAN Online Sale Day (AOSD), scheduled to take place starting Aug. 8 to 22, 2023.

The AOSD is an annual online shopping event that has been conducted on a region-wide scale since 2020, featuring a vast array of products and services from local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as well as businesses from all ASEAN Member States (AMS). These member states include Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

The primary objective of the AOSD is to facilitate and promote cross-border e-commerce throughout the ASEAN region. This online shopping event, which can be visited through this link: https://onlineasean.com/, offers a platform for both consumers and businesses to engage in faster and more convenient transactions compared to traditional methods.

To ensure the highest quality and security standards, all suppliers participating in the AOSD undergo a rigorous vetting process conducted by the AMS.

Furthermore, in the event that any consumer complaints arise from AOSD transactions, the ASEAN Committee on Consumer Protection (ACCP) will be responsible for handling and resolving these issues.

DTI Undersecretary for Consumer Protection Group, Atty. Ruth B. Castelo, encourages Filipino consumers to eagerly anticipate this exciting online shopping extravaganza. She emphasizes the importance of exercising consumer rights, such as the right to information and choice. The DTI advises consumers to stay informed and take advantage of the incredible opportunities that the AOSD has to offer.

For more information and updates, interested individuals can visit the DTI website and follow the Consumer Care social media accounts. Additionally, for any consumer-related concerns or queries, individuals can reach out to the DTI through email at ConsumerCare@dti.gov.ph or by calling the One-DTI (1-384) Hotline.

The 2023 ASEAN Online Sale Day promises to be a remarkable event, providing consumers with unparalleled access to a wide variety of products and services. By embracing cross-border e-commerce, the ASEAN region is taking significant strides towards fostering market access and promoting consumer confidence in online transactions. (PIA-NCR)
