San Jose PNP hits illegal drugs, gambling operations


SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- The San Jose Municipal Police Station (MPS) reported a crackdown on illegal drugs and gambling operations in the capital town of this province.

Police Major Geremy Ian R. Magbanua, Acting Chief of Police of San Jose de Buenavista, reported in a press conference the Anti-illegal Illegal Drugs operations undertaken by San Jose PNP together with the Provincial Drug Enforcement Group of Antique Police Provincial Office, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) that resulted in the arrest of two drug personalities operating in their area of jurisdiction.

Magbanua discussed the operational accomplishments of the station for the period of July 31– August 6, 2023, including the arrest of the most wanted person in the regional and provincial levels charged under the provisions of Republic Act 9262 or the Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) Act.

For illegal gambling, San Jose MPS also arrested bettors in an amusement park playing number games, color games, and roulette which is prohibited under Republic Act 9287 or an Act increasing the penalties for illegal numbers games, amending certain provisions of the Presidential Decree No. 1602, and for other purposes.

The San Jose MPS reiterated its commitment to pursue with dedication the law enforcement operations focusing on the agenda of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

San Jose MPS also reported no cases of theft for the given period of time attributed to the stringent implementation of Executive Order No. 88-D issued by Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao 

implementing the curfew hours for minors from 12:00 midnight to 4:00 in the morning.

Magbanua also urged gun owners who failed to renew their licenses or were not able to secure a permit to apply to the proper authorities to avoid sanctions. (AGP/PSM/PIA Antique with reports from Gerald Nallana/GIP)
