Shelter for 1,440 Navoteño families soon to rise

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – A 5-hectare socialized housing project in Barangay Tanza 1 of Navotas City broke ground on Tuesday, August 8, which is expected to shelter 1,440 families. 

The local government has partnered with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and National Housing Authority (NHA) for the construction of the said NavotaAs Homes 3 with a total of 24 five-storey buildings.  

Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco led the groundbreaking ceremony together with DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar and NHA General Manager Joeben Tai.

“A number of Navoteño families still live in danger zones along the coast or waterways. That is why we give high priority to providing safe and quality homes," said Tiangco. 

"Although Navotas is small in terms of land area, we will continue to work, in partnership with NHA and DHSUD, to provide more housing options for our people," he added.

NavotaAs Homes 3 adds to the 5 in-city housing projects of the local government that produced 2,187 housing units for families in need, particularly  those who previously lived in danger zones or were affected by fire incidents and other disasters. (Navotas PIO/PIA-NCR)
