LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – The National Museum of the Philippines - Bicol (NMP-Bicol) has reopened its doors to local and foreign tourists on August 8, 2023, two months after Mayon Volcano's restiveness caused its closure.
In its social media announcement, NMP-Bicol invited visitors to see its indoor and outdoor exhibitions to experience and enrich one’s knowledge about Bicol’s natural heritage.
The NMP-Bicol’s said that its indoor exhibition dubbed as "Bicolandia: Land of Volcanoes" displays four permanent galleries with creatively curated displays of botanical, zoological, and geological specimens representing Bicol’s unique natural history.
"It features important geological structures and landforms, rocks, fossils, plants, and animals. The exhibition highlights the volcanoes of Bicol where students and even guests can closely study how these mountains of lava were formed," it said.

“A viewing deck gives a sight of the famous Mayon Volcano,” the museum added.
The NMP-Bicol located near Cagsawa Ruins in Busay, Daraga town in Albay is one of the 18 NMP-run museums outside of the National Capital Region.
The museum is open Tuesdays to Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“We welcome walk-ins while free guided tours are confirmed by sending us a private message,” it said. (PIA5)
