CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--After five decades of operation, the Cagayan de Oro Water District (COWD) is acknowledging the significant contributions of its partner stakeholders. These stakeholders have played a vital role in ensuring the success of COWD.

“We honor our partners for their untiring and invaluable support in Cagayan de Oro City Water District and continually extending their understanding, help in helping us to address, resolve, surmount all the difficulties as we journey the five decades of our existence,” COWD General Manager Antonio Young said.

COWD was created through Sangguniang Panglunsod's Resolution No. 35 in 1973, which started with 3,500 service connections with a pipeline thirty-nine kilometers in length and 12,200 cubic meters of production; it has come a long way, and they attributed it to the stakeholders and partners.

Young said that with the help and support of their partners, COWD had improved its services and widened its scope of the areas served. They even extended their service to the neighboring municipalities of Cagayan de Oro City.  

“At present, we have about 108,200 connections--we are talking about 600,000 population of Cagayan de Oro City and neighboring municipalities. With a pipeline of about 500 kilometers and production of at least 200,000 cu.m per day,” Young added.

Meanwhile, Cagayan de Oro City 2nd District Representative Rufus Rodriguez commended COWD for their anniversary and the services they are giving not just to the Kagay-anons but also to the nearby Municipalities.

COWD vows to carry on its care by giving excellent service to its clientele and hopes that the partnership forged with its various partner stakeholders continues for years to come. (JAKA/PIA10)
