Senator gives aid to 'Egay' victims in Abra, checks on infra damages

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) -- Typhoon-affected Abrenians received financial assistance from the Office of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development(DSWD) on Friday, August 11.

The Senator personally distributed cash aid worth P2,000 to some beneficiaries in La Paz and Bangued during his visit to the province to check on the damages and needs of the affected communities due to Super Typhoon Egay that recently struck province.


“Katatapos lamang ng pandemya tapos dumaan ang lindol, dumaan ang bagyo tapos ngayon baha. Huwag po tayong sumuko. Nandito po ako bilang inyong senador para tignan ang kalagayan ninnyo. Sa tulong ng DSWD, makakatanggap po kayo ng tigda-dalawang libong piso,” Revilla said.


Patricio Brioso from Patucannay, Bangued personally received financial assistance from the Senator. The PWD beneficiary is thankful for the aid that he said he  will use to buy food and basic needs for his family.

“Daytoy ket paggatang mi ti bagas mi ta wan met ti pagalaan mi ti pagbiag mi sunga thank you iti naipaay nga tulong kadakami ta nalayos kami ken naabot kami ti danum,” he shared.


The Senator who is the Chair of the Senate Committee on Public Works also checked on typhoon damages on infrastructure in the province. He shared that discussions are underway for the development of a national masterplan to manage and prevent flooding that affects areas not only in the province but nationwide.

“Ito po ay kasama ng climate change. Dati po hindi kayo binabaha dito pero ngayon binaha, inagos ang mga revetment na ginawa. Iyan po ang mga so-solusyonan natin ngayon kaya gagawa ng masterplan at uunti-untihin nating tulungan para makabangon kayo rito,” he explained.


Revilla was  joined by Congresswoman Ching Bernos, Governor Dominic Valera, National LMP President La Paz Mayor JB Bernos, Bangued Mayor Mila Valera, and DSWG -Cordillera  Assistant Regional Director for Administration Enrique Gascon.(JJPM-PIA Abra)
