DSWD distributes financial aid to 2K families in P’sinan

DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Field Office 1 provided a total of P3 million cash assistance to qualified beneficiaries in Alaminos City on Thursday at the Don Leopoldo Sison Convention Center.

The distribution of assistance, which is under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of DSWD, benefitted a total of 2,000 indigent families who received P1,500 each.

Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, in coordination with Alaminos City Mayor Arth Bryan Celeste, led the distribution of financial assistance and provided the families some grocery packs, vitamins, and other non-food items such as balls for basketball and volleyball, three bicycles, cellular phones, face masks, shirts, and shoes.

“Sa pagbibigay namin ng ganitong tulong, marami po akong naririnig na nagpapasalamat. Hindi po kayo ang dapat na magpasalamat sa amin. Kami po ang dapat na magpasalamat sa inyo dahil binigyan ninyo kami ng pagkakataon na makatulong sa inyo,” said Go adding that it is his job to give back and help the people through programs that alleviate their lives.

As part of his efforts to further strengthen public health care, Senator Go also inspected the ongoing construction progress of the Super Health Center at Barangay Baloney.

Meanwhile, Mayor Celeste expressed his gratitude to Senator Go for helping the people in Alaminos City.

“It’s an opportunity to give thanks sa ating butihing senador sa lahat ng suporta na ibinigay niya sa aming lungsod. Napakarami po in terms of infrastructures, line canals worth P70 million na ibinaba niya rito, at ang most recent one is the Super Health Center na alam kong  malaking tulong sa ating mga kababayan sa ating lungsod,” he said.

Glyza Apaga, 37 years old and a resident of Barangay San Vicente, also thanked the DSWD and Senator Go for the assistance she received.

“Masaya po ako na isa ako sa mga nabahagian ng tulong po ni Senador Bong Go at ng ganitong programa ng DSWD. Malaking tulong po ito sa aking pamilya lalong-lalo na sa manugang ko na bagong panganak pa lang,” she said.

AICS program is one of the government’s efforts aimed at providing immediate and temporary assistance to individuals and families affected by crises such as fire, illness or loss of a family member, natural disasters, and other situations. (JCR/AMB/JCDR/PIA Pangasinan)
