SANTA PRAXEDES, Cagayan (PIA) - - The local government unit of Santa Praxedes has recently introduced its new flagship program, dubbed as the ‘Youth Initiative for Community Involvement’.

Mayor Esterlina Aguinaldo said the program aims to engage young members of the community in various impactful activities, such as environmental protection, social welfare initiatives, resiliency efforts, and tourism and cultural participation.

“By encouraging active participation among the youth, the LGU aims to build a more vibrant and socially conscious community that works towards the betterment of society as a whole,” she said.

The program was introduced during the special orientation organized by the LGU to discuss the amendments to Ordinance No. 221-2017 on August 12, which was attended by municipal scholars, educational assistance beneficiaries, and their parents.

During the orientation, Ordinance No. 319-2023, a significant amendment to Ordinance No. 221-2017 entitled "An Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 221-2017 Entitled 'An Ordinance Consolidating All Scholarship Ordinances, Amending Some Provisions, and Creating Additional Provisions Thereof”, was presented by Geo Patrick R. Buenavista, Tourism Operations Officer II.

The amendments provide more comprehensive and effective educational assistance to the scholars, and address various aspects of the scholarship programs, ensuring that deserving students receive the necessary financial aid and guidance to excel in their studies.

On the other hand, Aguinaldo encouraged all scholars, including their parents, to actively participate in the community-building efforts.
