BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - -The Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) recent Jobs Fair in this town drew work applicants and hired several job seekers.

Elizabeth Martinez, DOLE Nueva Vizcaya Field Office (NVFO) head, said the day-long activity resulted in the immediate hiring of four job seekers and facilitated 520 applicants with 466 qualified job seekers.

The Jobs Fair, which was conducted in partnership with the Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) as part of the town’s ‘Bayongyong’ Festival highlighting its Patronal Town Fiesta, was attended by 11 local establishments or employers and 3 international employment agencies, offering 2,557 job openings.

“Holding this Jobs Fair activity is extremely important in enabling employment in the municipality; thus, we from DOLE region expressed our appreciation for initiating the job fair, especially since a lot of students were senior high school graduates and college graduates who recently joined the labor force. Also, I want to congratulate everyone, especially those Hired-On-The-Spot, for a job well done because this is your beginnings,” Martinez said.

She said Jobs Fair is one of the DOLE’s employment facilitation strategies aimed at fast-tracking the meeting of jobseekers and employers recruitment agencies in one venue at a specific date to reduce cost, time, and effort, particularly on the part of the applicants. (MDCT/BME/PIA Nueva Vizcaya)
