QUEZON CITY, (PIA) --The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) received silver and bronze awards for its gender mainstreaming and gender-responsive efforts in this year’s GADtimpala Awarding Ceremony held August 14, 2023 in Taguig City.
The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) conferred the GADtimpala Silver Award to the Department for the Outstanding Gender-Responsive Agency category while its GAD Focal Point System was bestowed with the GADtimpala AlaGAD Bronze Award.
Undersecretary Benjo Santos M. Benavidez, who accepted the award on behalf of DOLE Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma, expressed his thanks to PCW for recognizing the Department’s strengthened efforts to implement policies and mechanisms to ensure safe and humane workplace conditions for all workers, particularly during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also vowed to strengthen efforts in integrating gender and development (GAD) into DOLE strategies and ensure progressive and inclusive development in the labor and employment sector.
GADtimpala, or Gender and Development Transformation & Institutionalization through Mainstreaming of Programs, Agenda, Linkages & Advocacies, was launched by the PCW in 2013 to recognize the government agencies' outstanding gender mainstreaming and gender-responsive efforts.
AlaGAD, on the other hand, recognizes the exemplary performance of gender focal point systems in catalyzing and accelerating their respective offices’ GAD efforts. (dole/pia-ncr)
