SSS told employers to pay on time

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- The Social Security System (SSS) enjoins all employers throughout the country to remit the social security (SS) contributions of their employees on time.

Business employers are directed under the Republic Act or RA 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018 to register their employees and ensure payment of their corresponding contributions.

In a press release, SSS President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rolando Ledesma Macasaet stressed the state insurer’s commitment to pursue delinquent employers, or those who failed to pay employee contributions.

Macasaet said that each employer is assigned to a specific SSS Account Officer (AO) who ensures their compliance with the law, adding that Statement of Accounts (SOAs) are regularly prepared which leads to payroll audits when discrepancies are observed.

Billing letters are then sent to employers

who need to settle their accounts at the soonest possible time or within the deadline set.

In the event an employer continues to be non-compliant, a demand letter is sent by SSS and could later lead to the filing of appropriate cases.

SSS is also strengthening its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign through which a Notice of Violation is issued and an order to appear within 15 days before the nearest SSS branch is made, otherwise, employers might face legal consequences.

“Even though we are aggressively pursuing delinquent employers, we still offer them some relief through our contribution penalty condonation programs for their consideration so that penalties may be waived if they are deemed eligible,” Macasaet noted.

Considering the failure on the part of the employers to update their list of employees, SSS is also persistent in reconciling its records to avoid overstated SOAs.

Meanwhile, SSS Antique Branch assured the public of its continued efforts in monitoring and ensuring the compliance of local employers with their responsibilities and warned against non-compliance.

Branch head Phillip M. Lucero reiterated the importance of abiding by the law to avoid unnecessary legal problems in the

future, as he encouraged employers and individual payers to pay their monthly SS contributions & loan amortizations to qualify in SSS programs and benefits.

Delinquencies may be settled by local employers to their assigned Accounts Officer (AO) in the SSS branch nearest them.

The state insurer also assures Filipinos that it is capable of continuously providing benefits and granting loans to its pensioners and members, given its robust cash flow, with revenues outpacing expenditures. (AGP/BPS/PIA Antique with reports from Social Security System and SSS Antique Branch)
