BANGUED, Abra (PIA)--Education stakeholders in Abra commit to take part in the preparation and maintenance of public schools for the opening of classes amidst the effects of Super Typhoon Egay in the province.
This was during the special launching of the National Schools Maintenance Week dubbed as “Brigada Eskwela 2023” at the Sinapangan Elementary School in Bangued which is one of the schools affected during the onslaught of the super typhoon last month.
Based on the latest report from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the initial estimated cost of damages to classrooms, school infrastructure, and facilities reached P163,366,801.
Abra Schools Division Superintendent Amador Garcia Sr. enjoined everyone to participate in the preparation of schools for the upcoming opening of classes on August 29, 2023.
"Kasi nga Brigada, all of us will go to participate in the things we need to do in preparing our schools. Lahat tayo kasama sa Brigada," Garcia said.
Different stakeholders showed support in helping the schools in the province gear up for the upcoming school opening.
The Cordillera Golfer’s Foundation Incorporated, a non-government organization, donated seven high-end laptops to seven integrated schools in the province.
Bai IS in Lagayan, Danac IS in Boliney, Licuan IS in Licuan-Baay, Naglibacan IS in Tineg, Tabangao IS in Luba, Tamac IS Villaviciosa, and Tuquib IS in Pilar each received one unit of high-end laptop.
The Philippine National Police, Highway Patrol Group, Regional Mobile Force Battalion, Local Government Unit of Bangued, PIA, private organizations, and other partners donated equipment, financial assistance, manpower, and other contributions towards a successful Brigada Eskwela 2023 and other programs of the different schools.
"Very supportive po kami sa lahat ng activities ng schools dito. Andito po kami and anyan po ang support ng PNP," shared Abra Provincial Highway Patrol Team Leader PMaj. Maria Alicia Valera.
Parents also expressed their steadfast assistance in ensuring safe and conducive learning spaces for their children.
“Sapay kuma parents nga kakadwak nga haan kayo kuma maum-uma nga mangted ti supporta para iti nasaysayaat nga pagianan ti annak tayo (I hope we parents will not get tired of extending our support towards better learning spaces for our children), ” said Division Federation of Parents-Teachers Association President Eduardo Buenafe Jr.
Garcia thanked all Brigada Eskwela stakeholders and asked for continuous partnership with everyone in delivering quality education to all learners.
“Lahat tayo magsama-sama, magtulong-tulongan for the implementation of the Brigada Eskwela and all programs of the Department of Education dahil concern nating lahat ang pag-aaral ng ating mga anak,” he said.
This year’s Brigada Eskwela that will run from August 14-19 carries the theme, “Bayanihan Para sa Matatag na Paaralan.” This aims to bring all stakeholders together to participate and contribute their time, effort, and resources to ensure that public schools are ready for the school opening.(JDP/JJPM-PIA CAR, Abra)
