Capiz PNP hosts security meeting for BSKE

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- The Capiz Police Provincial Office hosted a Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Council (JPSCC), Aug. 8, at the Function Hall of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office at the Governor's Mansion compound in Brgy. Lanot, here.

The activity was attended by Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Roxas City Election Officer lawyer Rommel Benliro, who represented COMELEC Provincial Election Supervisor lawyer Wil Arceño; Capiz police director Col. Jerome D. Afuyog, Jr.; 12th Infantry Battalion operation officer Capt. Celestino Boncales; Philippine Coast Guard - Capiz acting station commander Cmdr. Edison B. Diaz; Bureau of Fire Protection Deputy Provincial Fire Marshal F/SInp. Diosdado P. Hadcan, Jr.; police chiefs of local police stations, PDRRMO head lawyer Sheila A. Artillero; and representatives from the National Bureau of Investigation and Capiz Electric Cooperative (CAPELCO), among others.

CPPO Public Information Officer Maj. Ruby Magallanes said that the meeting discussed updates on security preparations, deployment plan, application of firearms exemption on gun ban and other COMELEC issuances and resolutions on BSKE 2023.

She added that the JPSCC members wanted to ensure the peace and security of the voting public,  strengthen the collaboration of the agencies involved for the whole operation, and synchronize efforts on election-related public safety activities for the election.

COMELEC 6 Regional Election Director lawyer Dennis Ausan, during a recent interaction with some Capiz mediamen in Roxas City, said that the Commission will also lead the convention of the Regional Joint Security Coordinating Council on Aug. 22 in Iloilo City to discuss security preparations and plans for the polls.

The poll body's top official in the region was in the city, Aug. 3, for the 3rd quarter Provincial Election Supervisors of Western Visayas conference to discuss the BSKE preparations and updates.

He said the gun ban in view of the BSKE will start on Aug. 28 and will end on Nov. 29 this year. (AGP/AAL/PIA Capiz)
